Recipe notes
- Chickpeas: You can use canned chickpeas for convenience or cook dried chickpeas until tender. Removing the skins results in a smoother hummus.
- Tahini: Make sure to stir the tahini well before measuring, as it tends to separate. Adjust the amount according to your preference.
- Consistency: Add water a little at a time to achieve your desired consistency. The hummus should be creamy and smooth.
- Adjust the amount of chili flakes according to your preference for heat. You can also add a pinch of cayenne pepper for extra spice.
- Storage: Store leftover hummus in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week. Drizzle a thin layer of olive oil on top to help preserve freshness.
- Feel free to customize your hummus with additional spices like smoked paprika, sumac, or ground coriander for different flavor profiles.
